Happy Birthday to my H2B (for last week!)

For the New Year we both made a promise to take each others birthday off work and do something different for the day. It was quite easy for my birthday this year as it fell on a Saturday and was living in a new city, so shopping in Manchester with dinner and drinks in Liverpool was perfect.

Anyway, it was Colin's birthday last Thursday and after making him some 'Mitchell Muffins' and eating them in bed he opened some of his 19 birthday cards (this has become a bit of a rivalry) and then got ready for a day at the races. It was the first day of the Grand National meet at Aintree, so we got dressed up to the nines, although not as much as some, and went out for the day.
It was a beautiful day, we ate and drank plenty, placed a few bets and wondered around the grounds. We placed bets on each race, but lost more than we won.

After the races we went to the local curry house for dinner and stuffed ourselves silly and to top the night off we went to a late showing at the cinemas to see 'The Hills Have Eyes 2'. By the time we had got back home we were both exhausted and needless to say I was useless at work the next day (Note to self: take the day after off as well!)

So a huge HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my gorgeous beau for last week, can't wait till next year!!

Too tired to blog....

It always seems that when I have something interesting to blog about I'm completely snowed under, never have the time and am totally exhausted. I would like to go back though and say what a wonderful Easter weekend Colin and I had. Apart from troughing our way through 8 huge eggs between us, our friends Chris and Aimee came up from London to see us. We all did the tourist thing around Liverpool and Chester, went out for drinks, watched footy and played darts (badly!) in the local pub. We were all so knackered by the Sunday that we stayed in all day, which was nice and relaxing.
Anyway, thanks Chris and Aims for making the effort to come up we had a fab time and hopefully see you soon.

3 pairs of knickers & shampoo........

Is it just me or does anyone else hate shopping for clothes? I've never found it an enjoyable experience and when the current fashion is just completely wrong it makes it even worse.
Don't get me wrong I think some people look fantastic in what they wear, but come on high streets fashion, we're in the 21st century and all you can think of is to revert back to the 60's and 70's with shapeless tops/dresses and psychadelic colours.
I've never been one to conform completely to the fashion of the moment. One of the main reasons is that the better clothes are more expensive and the ones that are affordable you usually end up seeing 10 year old girls and 50 year old woman wearing, something a bit wrong there.
That, plus my body shape usually lets me down, big bum, big boobs, short legs and although I am at my ideal weight, it's still a nightmare to find a great pair of jeans and a top that actually looks right.

As you can tell, I'm feeling rather disheartened about the whole shopping thing, but hopefully next season things will look up!!

Ranting...

I'm quite sad at the fact that this is the first year I have actually felt physical signs of getting
old(er!). This hooha with the clocks going forward an hour has knocked me for six. I mean gosh, what's the big deal, I only used to lose an hours sleep! But no not now, I cant seem to get to sleep before 11pm and it actually hurts to wake up in the morning.

Another thing that is quite upsetting is that I am now classed in the 3rd age group when filling out those equal opp forms, does it get any better from here on??!?!?
Too much ranting I know, but on the upside, I have found the determination to get stuck into Weight Watchers again, kinda lost track of it when I came back from traveling. The hardest thing is not being able to join a group though as I am below the weight limit they allow for my height.
Because I didn't reach my goal weight in NZ, I didn't become a lifetime member and even though I dont want to lose anymore weight, just manage it, I still cant join. I guess another rant as this sucks!!.....Plus, the NoCount option of WW's is different here to what it was in New Zealand so I'm having to learn all over again on my own what it is I can and can't eat, again...sucks!!

Good news now...I am really looking forward to Easter weekend this year as we have some friends, Chris and Aimee coming to stay with us. Last time we saw them was almost a year ago in their home country of New Zealand. We have a few ideas of where to go and what to do, but any more suggestions would be welcome!

Take a look....

This website is FAB! I've used it twice now to order things and it's soooo cheap, if not FREE. Depending on what you order, all you might pay for is VAT and P & P.
I've just ordered 50 small magnets, instead of cards, as Save the Date reminders for the wedding. Thought it was quite a funky idea, I've managed to upload a photo of the both of us and add a bit of text all for £11.54 (inc VAT and P & P)
Take a look, you never know what you might need!! www.vistaprint.co.uk

TIA

This Is Africa....In no particular order!!

These pics are just a few of our safari, a visit to a Masai village, our trip to Zanzibar with Harry and Viv and the orphanage which is in the village where Harry and Viv live (Berega).
We had such a wonderful time and Africa in the rainy season is so beautiful and green. Zanzibar was nice and relaxing and had one of the most beautiful beaches we've seen so far!
I just need to say that we are so very proud of the work that Harry and Viv are doing. Even in the difficult surroundings they're both doing wonderful jobs. Keep up the fantastic work guys!
